Here's a summary of the sequence of events:

    - A journalists publishes a story
    - IFL share price falls (largely in line with the broader equity market)
    - A Senate inquiry is commissioned
    - The Inquiry finds IFL has nothing systematic to answer for
    - A class action is launched (ostensibly to recover losses from the share price which has fallen - again, broadly in line with the broader market - because some journalist published a story that led to an Inquiry that found nothing seriously amiss.)

    I have three arising questions:

    1. What losses, exactly, have been suffered by the litigants?
    2. Given the Inquiry came up with nothing, surely it is the journalist who trumped up the story that held to the Inquiry that is culpable?
    3. As a taxpayer, who is going to make me whole for the cost of an Inquiry that achieved little other than offer a platform for some politician to do a bit of grandstanding for the benefit of his own political and personal profile?
