A few of elements I was reminded about after the response to my query: IFN has contract customers in SA that it services so those are still buying under contract at those prices. If there was anything materially impacting them at present IFN would be bound to evaluate it and make an announcement. There are 7 generators under curtailment for an estimated 2 weeks(1 week through so far) while Heyward is repaired including the 3 Lake Bonney farms. The situation is in flux somewhat and is therefore not fully predictable. The battery is still operating including FCAS services.
Re Brookfield: As announced last year, Brookfield and IFN did not enter a strategic partnership so Brookfield was a financial investor only. IFN would not have pre-knowledge of the off-market sale. Although 71c was probably disappointing to the co. and retail holders, it was probably based on VWAP over several months of trading and the size of the transaction so not too surprising.
IMHO I am comfortable that the SA downtime will not be a material change and the buying opportunity is still good. This is all based om my own research and understanding so do take it as advice. Do your own research and GLTAH.
