Coal finished as renewable costs crash
Bloomberg just published another stark reminder of the shifting landscape for energy generation – fossil fuels have a limited time as viable sources of energy. And I’m not talking about saving the planet or carbon taxes, simply economics. _______
I restate my opinion, for investors wind is the best asset class as utility solar competes with price-taking rooftop solar.
The future mix looks like Solar + Wind + Batteries + Pumped Hydro. Of these, Pumped Hydro looks the hardest, with engineering and land use challenges.
All coal plants and steaming coal mines are in run-off, being operated for cash as they look for a timely exit. Boilers that blow won't be repaired.
