Good question, lanuit.
IFN may well be willing to use their battery more actively - switching between charge and discharge is a big factor in wearing batteries out. As battery costs are falling 18% a year, 'saving' a battery to extend its time in use may not be the most clever strategy.
The volts you see going to the B are from a highly variable source and would otherwise be spilled. Better to collect and sell into price peaks.
Oh, and all batteries aren't the same. Their different qualities may suggest different operating strategies.
