Elsewhere, the NSW government is seeking tenders from renewables generators for its own consumption, to be met from wind, solar, batteries, fast start gas and pumped hydro. As no new PH can be completed in the NSW timeframe and large-scale solar competes predictably with price-insensitive rooftops, the operators of wind, batteries and OCGT are placed to gain through risk sharing and tangible incentives.

I restate my opinion IFN ought consider a big battery on the SYD-CAN interconnect, either at Capital windfarm or Smithfield. Both sites have land available and are hard wired into the grid. Even a modest, scalable installation at either end would deliver early and tangible benefits to IFN.
The order queue for industrial scale kit at the battery manufacturers will now be very long as the financial and performance success of the SA batteries is observed and emulated world-wide.
