    Hi Ash
I agree the next Summer will test the whole system and Smithfield will turn out to be a genius move as will LBB battery.

One storage option for Bodangora might be a local hydrogen cogeneration plant. This would essentially work like Smithfield but use stored hydrogen generated on site using excess wind power. This means no transport of hydrogen and the plant uses the same power transport infrastructure currently in place. The storage volumes also need not be large as the hydrogen is used in a 2-3 day cycle to cover low wind and peak demand. It might also be additive if it operates in parallel with the wind turbines at high demand/high wind times. The efficiency would make this pay for itself pretty quickly as the fuel cost would be the amortization of the plant and running costs only. The fuel itself would be a byproduct of excess wind production. If Arena stumped up some cash the the payoff would be faster as in the LBB.
If the plant produced excess H2 then it could be sold off to others for industrial use.

Jemena has already started on a hydrogen gas storage from renewable energy in Western Sydney.
