SYDNEY, 10 MAY, 2019:The combination of proven technology with ground-breakingplastics-to-fuel patents developed by Integrated Green Energy Solutions (ASX:IGE) (IGES) in the Port ofAmsterdam has won the 2019 IAPH World Ports Sustainability Awards in the Climateand Energy category.

The plant is based on a combination of proven science with patentedtechnology born in Australia. The facility has a permit to process 100 tonnesper day of end of life non-recyclable plastics to produce 35 million litres offuel per annum that requires no further processing, blending, or refining – aworld first.

IGES believes that there is the capacity to eventually process up to 400tonnes per day of end of life, non-recyclable plastic to produce 140 millionlitres of fuel (given the population of Amsterdam and its surrounding areas).

The awards, organised by the International Associationof Ports and Harbors (IAPH), aims to empower port communities to engage withbusinesses, government, and key stakeholders in the creation of a sustainablefuture across the globe.

The win was announced at a gala dinner during the IAPH World Ports Conference in Guangzhou, China on 9 May.

An international jury comprising senior figuresfrom the industry including the World Maritime University, UNCTAD, Institute ofChartered Shipbrokers and the University of Antwerp Management School made the final decision.

Each jury member provided a score for each project based on the selectioncriteria(http://www.iaphworldports.org/iaph/wp-content/uploads/2018-12-12-IAPH-Sustainability-Awards-ToR-FINAL.pdf) with public votes contributing 30 per cent to the overall evaluation.

"It's a great honour to be recognised at this year’s IAPHWorld Ports Sustainability Awards and I congratulate all finalists for comingthis far,” IGES Executive Chairman Paul Dickson said.

“This award is a testament to the great partnership we share withthe Port of Amsterdam, who from the beginning has been a strong supporter ofour vision to create a cleaner planet by reducing the amount of plasticpollution in the environment.

“The win is a strong validation by experts and our peers aroundthe world that our patented technology can effectively tackle the global crisisof end of life plastics going to landfill, incineration and oceans.

“I’d like to congratulate my team and the Port of Amsterdam forall their hard work thus far as we continue to tackle the scourge of plasticpollution. Finally, I would like to recognise the dedication of the AmsterdamCompetent Authority whose diligent and proactive approach has ensured thatcommunity welfare is of the highest priority,” Mr Dickson said.

IGES Amsterdam General Manager Floris Geeris said:“the award is aculmination of all the hard work and dedication by the team over the past fewyears.

“I’d like to thank the Port of Amsterdam for its continued supportand significant contribution to the project whichshowcases the port area as avibrant hub for innovation, sustainability and one that is achieving keyenvironmental and energy goals,” Mr Geeris said.

Port of Amsterdam Director of Circular & Renewable IndustryRoon van Maanen said: “Port of Amsterdam is honoured and congratulates IGESwith this important IAPH World Ports Sustainability Award.

“We work closely with IGES in different roles to push the projectforward and to find a better solution for end of life plastics.

“This award is a reward and an acknowledgment of Port ofAmsterdam’s strategy to be the circular hotspot in Europe.”

    Sustainable DevelopmentGoals

The IAPH’s World Ports Sustainability Program aims to demonstrate global leadershipof ports in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (“SDG”) ofthe United Nations. It also subscribes to the Paris Climate Goal which has atarget of keeping global warming well below 2°C. This means IGES shareholdersare also participating in this program and are therefore making a positiveenvironmental contribution within the guidelines of the United Nations and theParis Climate Goal.

Theprogram aims to empower port communities to engage with business, governmentaland key stakeholders in creating sustainable added value for the localcommunities and wider regions in which their ports are embedded. Participationand success with respect to this program will allow the Company to improve itsnegotiating position and leverage when dealing with other companies within theAmsterdam community, as well as expand its global contacts with respect toports, government authorities, businesses and environmental agencies.

Theprogram specifically measures the sustainability performance of global port authoritiesbased on the SDGs of the United Nations. The SDGs define global priorities andaspirations for 2030 and provide the bridge between companies, NGOs, local andnational governments to solve social and environmental issues.

IGES,over its recent history, has been adopting the United Nations’ SDGs in supportof our ethos to create a cleaner planet for the next generation. Set out beloware five of the United Nations goals and details of how IGES activities relateto each goal:

    1. Affordable and clean energy:

Ensureaccess to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

IGES’send of life plastic to fuel process produces a cleaner fuel as compared toconventional diesel. For more details, refer to this whitepaper. https://www.igesolutions.org/wp-content/uploads/White-Paper-Emissions-Comparison.pdf

    2. Industry, innovation andinfrastructure:

Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation.

IGES’spatented technology has the capacity to operate at scale, reducing landfill andregenerating the final value of plastics to help communities and businessesclose the loop of the circular economy.

    3. Sustainable cities andcommunities:

Make cities and humansettlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

IGESshares a common goal with the communities where we work and live throughinvestments and job creation. We empower people to take responsibility andgenerate economic value for the local communities.

    4. Responsible Consumption andProduction:

    Ensure sustainable consumptionand production patterns.

IGESis a responsible neighbour and operates clean, safe and quiet sites with loweremissions and reduced carbon footprint to produce a consistent source ofcleaner fuel.

    5. Climate Action:

Take urgent action to combatclimate change and its impacts.

Theamount of end of life plastics in the world is increasing at a much greaterrate than recycling or decomposition rates, this is why every day counts. IGESgives people the tools to tackle this global problem locally.
