so, rabbitoh, how do you propose helping these people who you say "are worse off than they've ever been"...hmmm...will you be the first to put up your hand and volunteer that some of your wealth be redistributed from you to them?? Have you asked yourself why they are worse off? Could it be that they have made some poor life choices? Could it be that they've overcommitted themselves to creditcard debt? Could it be that they've bought a home that was beyond their capacity to service debt-wise?
To say that poeple are worse off must beg the question: why? It's very easy to blame a politician for one's woes.
Don't get me wrong: I believe there should be safety-nets to protect people (and particularly their families) -- even if it's often a case of saving people from themselves.
