Real estate investment in many areas of Australia over the past 5 years or so has been a loss-making venture. I have experienced it and so have many other people I know, and I'm in a very nice and salubrious part of Oz. It's Sydney that has won, maybe Melb too in parts, but the rest has generally been wasted capital. The media is Syd and Mel centric about property.
