My gut feel is it's a bad move. The reason SQM was bought by Tranqui is because it's solution mined. Solution mining is significantly cheaper than hard rock mining. Lithium itself as an element just isn't that hard to find it's just that there is/may be a short term supply demand imbalance.
Having said that Greenbushes is a pegmatite. It contains other elements such as tin and tantalum (coltan) as well. (Obviously not exactly where the lithium rich areas are)
