+++++++++++++++++++++++++ Intellect (ASX: IHG) today announced its new Greek partner, Skeye Hellas SA, had secured a contract to deliver Intellect's first complete mobile payment solution. The deal with EUROBANK Greece is worth over $5million and includes provision for continuing income.
Intellect's CEO, Mr Jan de Smet, said the deal was an important milestone in the company's move towards being a solutions provider.
"We recently announced our intention to increase the company's capacity to deliver complete payment solutions and are now seeing this become reality," he said. "By offering local service alongside Intellect solutions, we have been able to supply EUROBANK Greece with everything they need for mobile payments. Skeye Hellas is a terrific partner for us in Greece and the Balkan region as they have great local market experience, are well known in the banking world and have established partnerships with local mobile telephony providers."
Skeye Hellas' General Manager and Owner, Mr Fotis B Katzouros, is equally positive about his company's relationship with Intellect.
"Our experience and skills fit well with the needs of Intellect - and indeed they are an ideal partner for us," he said. "We have based the deal with EUROBANK Greece on a rental model that will ensure continuing income for Skeye Hellas and Intellect throughout the lifespan of the project."
Alongside Intellect's Sapphire 9870 mobile payment terminal with GSM communications, Skeye Hellas will provide terminal applications, a management system and access controller, all supplied by Intellect.
The solution also includes local business logic and uses the Greek character set. With the experience supplied by Skeye Hellas, the solution was certified within two weeks and will be supplemented by training services, provision of GSM SIM cards, installation, maintenance and a helpdesk.
The solution for EUROBANK Greece was dependent on an effective gateway system that allowed the Sapphire 9870 GSM terminals to communicate with traditional banking networks. Intellect's new access controller manages this securely and quickly, and will become a centre point for future implementations of Intellect hardware.
This deal is yet another in the Sapphire 9870 success story. Already in use throughout Europe, the mobile terminal with the tagline 'any card, any time, any place' is also selling well in other continents. In April, Intellect announced a large sale to AMPS Wireless in the US and a second large order for the terminals in the Netherlands. Customers throughout the world are using the terminal in a number of different applications, including cash-on-delivery, local law enforcement and taxicabs.
