some friends of mine recently got jobs with this company without even applying for them. The old saying its not what you know its who you know. I had been applying for jobs with all the mining companys and the construction and maintenance companys for about a year without any luck. Paying for tickets and courses and trying to getting as much relavent experience along the way, i estimate it has cost me around 8 thousand dollars in the last year. then i hear 2 mates have got jobs with this group without even applying because a relative works in the office and put a work in with the boss. no experience no ticket and didn't even really wan't to work in the mines but have gone there for the "money for jam" as they are calling it.
I know this isn't the only company doing such things, it goes on all over but iv'e got no interest in owning shares in a company when they won't even consider hiring an employee that wants to work for them and instead choose employee's that have no desire whatsoever
