*He'll dump the mining tax??? why? the big miners have fundementally agreed to it..most economist agree its needed....why not implement it for the greater good.

Hi denton,
some good thoughts.
If I may give my thoughts as a retired tradesman.
If the 40% tax super is a good Idea, why discriminate, apply to all?
If the stimulus was good for all Australians, why not miners, instead of over taxing them.
You don't create wealth by dividing wealth.
In stead of taxing miners more and slowing down the dollar changing hands, why not encourage mining investors from overseas and here in Australia.
And don't forget the support/service Industries that will be effected.
When a mining dollar changes hand,I would guess that employees would pay 40% income tax plus another 10%GST on anything they purchased.
Plus company tax,is there still pay roll taxes.
That is a 50% tax collected every time the dollar changed hands.
I am no finical wizard, but 50% of Billions is more than 70/80% of half that amount.
Like I said, you can't create wealth by dividing wealth.
The Miners are our Golden Goose, we should look after them.
BTW, Gillard only talked to the 3 International miners and conceded to big discount to get a deal only in principle,to keep them quite before election, mean while ignoring hundreds of small local Aussie miners.
Nice one Julia.
cheers,
sypaladin
