There is a very long list of potential immigrants who are patiently waiting in line for a student visa, work visa and so on. Then there are over 100,000 partners of Australians trying to get back home or be granted residency. They pay $7.8k just to lodge the application with no guarantee of being accepted. That money is sunk whether the visa is granted or not.
It's people like this that ruin it for the genuine applicants for citizenship and travel. Sorry, but people from Sri Lanka wanted to come here on a Tourist 600 visa will now pay the price for these que jumpers and will have less of a chance to visit.
