I didn't say that they wouldn't like their own home.
However, the cold hard reality is that many just can't afford one.
After they split, they don't always get the house. Or, if they lose hubby's wage, they can't make the payments.
Many single mums can't work. If they do it's part time and/or in poorly paid jobs.
The ones that keep a house watch that house descend into disrepair because they are constantly broke and can't afford to pay someone to fix things.
So, as I said before, their motherly instinct kicks in. The want safe, affordable accommodation as the number one priority. Quite often that's a rental.
