You're sounding like an ill informed commentator actually.
The person with the house has been working and paying taxes all their life under the proviso that the government would pay them a pension when they retire.
That was the deal.
There are asset tests for other things outside of the family home.
Or would you rather have a government that just changes the rules on and elderly person and force them out of their family home when they feel like it ?
