He didn't just say they didn't assay actually, he actually went further by saying by saying they knew of no method back then (1982) to assay for Rhenium.
Certainly there were no assay methods around at that time to assay for such. These days it is assayed using modern day ICP (Induced Coupling Plasma)
I reckon I have answered that question pretty thoroughly now.
So us true blievers will now assume that its loaded with Rhenium. ha ha
