The only possible way to have prevented it is if there were enough holders that banded together for a NO vote that collectively held a high enough percentage (above 25%) of the company to stop it dead in its tracks. But even going off TT's old thread, all those that disclosed their holdings weren't even close. Plus even if we did manage that, there's still no guarantee as there's a bit of game theory at play with it all (we even saw that here with some of the posters sharing that they were sure the NO vote would get through and so sold part of their holding so they could buy back in at a lower price after the NO).
