Hi 5h,
I think most reasonable people believe the climate science concensus gives the highest probability of predictive success - at least those people with an understanding of how science works. So I predict that global warming will continue until the next ice age (mini or maxi) and that human activity plays a significant role in the warming. That is until the science predicts otherwise.
The scaremongers such as Al Gore and Tim Flannery I ignore and do my best to disparage.
I don't feel morally obligated to reduce my carbon footprint in my personal life just like I don't feel obligated to donate income to charities while I am alive - although I have bequeathed all my personal wealth to the International Medical Corps.
I think governments are best placed to allocate the burdens of efficacious actions in relation to climate change (and most other things where community wide action is deemed necessary or highly desirable in order to prevent suffering). I don't think it is fair or desirable for conscientious people to bear more burden than the selfish.
Most of my personal wealth is currently invested in mining companies mainly with iron ore and coal interests. I don't consider this in any way irresponsible - I don't wish the world's poor to freeze in the dark while do-gooders feel good (and smug) in their attempts at increasing the price of essential commodities.
So I won't vote for The Greens. I will morally support (or vote for) any political group that can convince me of a cost effective international scheme to help the earth adapt to harmful global warming if not help reduce it - so for this reason also I won't vote for The Greens due to their poor record as spoilers.
