I did try to get better informed about the $550million, everything paints Noel Pearson in a pretty poor light, even accounting for some sources that obviously deliberately had their own agendas.
I think a wiser course of action would have been to have a Royal Commission into Indigenous spending over the last say 30 years, so that the whole nation could see where there was wastage, where there was corruption, how bad it was, how much of the money that Australian taxpayers comfortably yield annually to this issue actually got to the right people, how many leeches there were, where they were, who they were, etc before asking people to vote it into the Constitution.
Perhaps if we get a chance to make a comment on this issue going forward we could all suggest that there's no harm in doing this very thing - just to give everyone (all yes's and all no's) piece of mind, on this one issue at least.
