If it was 'only' a 'gesture of goodwill to our Indigenous people', it would have won in an absolute landslide. No need for a special day, no need for a budget, it could have been handled next election, piece of piss.

Enshrining an untested and undefined body into our Constitution, very different story, and rejecting it doesn't reject Indigenous Australia - at least to those who vote No. Prime Minister Albanese, though, deliberately made that the No outcome to try and emotionally blackmail the electorate into swallowing it. In my experience people don't take kindly to blackmail.

FYI the World doesn't give a shit about Australia, we're way less important than we think we are.
