i had a look at this general forum as i thought someone may be discussing biotechs after pbt
asteroider i understand some of your sentiments, but really the year has been pretty good overall, but i do think our market has been "thinned out' through takeovers (foreign and private equity etc), supermarkets , mining slump , internet disruption etc)
take the banks and telstra and wow and wes out and the year was a bit more ordinary! and they all look a bit dear to buy now- i do have some of most of them
I know I have been trying to improve the quality in my portfolio and it is hard because we used to have food companies ( supermarkets and foreign takeovers killed many ), and retailers which are under siege from internet and now foreign brandnames coming in -(i do have some pmv)- i toyed with gff again today but couldnt come in, and i got taken out with wcb - believe i missed freedom ( dont like hugely) and rfg -have some ckf but they are so so!
other stocks in financial services (magellan, treasury, platinum) have had big runs also, but i was going to have a look again at recall and covermore which might not be quite as cyclical ( I do have mfg and trg).
been selling bio's and internet/payment stocks generally, as i think in a few years many of them will be friendless like the mining explorers are now!
