    This is a no-brainer:

    1. Tony Abbott's 2010 media construct was 'action man'. It was morphed into 'Abbott the Great' on this forum. But those media constucts are now in tatters.

    2. Abbott is massively offside with mainstream Australians - only 15% of Liberal voters prefer him to other options and ~63% of mainstream Australians are dissatisfied with his performance. Even Julia Gillard is preferred as PM by ~13% more people.

    3. Abbott's biggest punches have had their impact but not produced a quick knockout [denial of human causation of global warming, the death knell for Whyalla, James Ashby's allegations against Peter Slipper, the trial by Parliament of Craig Thompson, the regurgitation of 20 year old allegations against Julia Gillard].

    4. Abbott has overseen a policy-free development zone and is now up Election Creek without any credibility on the key matters that will impact our future.

    So now it's time to change Abbott's media construct:

    . Link him to Bob Hawke's beer-swilling days as a Rhodes Scholar - bond with the boys.

    . Rollout Margie Abbott and Peta Credline and film stunts in a fire truck of Abbott the saviour - bond with the girls.

    . Regurgitate the 'action man' construct, refreshed in a mini election campaign.

    But has the underlying substance changed?

    Well, following the Christmas break and as promised before it; have we been given an alternative vision - strategic plan - documentation - costings?

    As always with Abbott; the answer on matters of substance is "NO!".
