For what it's worth, I reckon you should stick with the trend (down at the moment) until the evidence is crystal clear the trend has changed. Hedgie has it right imo - XJO and the US indices are all in a down-trend, so don't fight it - make money going short until you aqre certain the market has changed direction. Trying to predict at what level or when the market will reverse is ... well...imposible?
