Our ABC as an institution has served its owners namely all the Australian people very well.
Without the ABC we would be in the dark on so many issues and news coverage would be diminished particularly in Regional Australia.
They are not always perfect and occasionally make mistakes but overall their positive contribution massively outweighs the mistakes.
Oh the cover-ups there would be if there was no ABC. We would be subject to news under the control of a couple of media moguls interested only in their bottom line and pushing their personal political barrow. Ordinary Australians would be fed what a few rich media moguls and their rich mates wanted.
For ages the ABC has been the most trusted media in the land and that is why no government has dared to espouse getting rid of it.
Of course there are always some on the extreme end of politics like quite a number here baying to sell off or close down the ABC because the only news they want is one that follows there own extremist positions. They are just a noisy minority wasting their time criticising the ABC. No govt will dare eliminate the ABC albeit they may tinker occasionally with its funding.
The ABC is an iconic Australian which we the people own and most people love.
