In the industry that I'm working at the moment in WA, I can confirm that for every 10 new power generations to be built/being built, 8 are renewable sources (solar and wind).
Most the of Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne and Mid-West region are solar farms. The size of some renewable sites (in terms of power output) are even bigger than the local conventional fossil power stations.
The closure of the Hazelwood Coal-Fired Power station in Victoria further confirms the national movement toward renewable energy.
I have been recently contacted by some businessmen from Vietnam seeking advices on the feasibility and efficiency of wind and solar energy. They seem general content with the technologies and looking to invest in wind for central coast of Vietnam where wind is not an issue.
