Look at much of Africa, rich in minerals, resources and lots of people. Even Indonesia.

Can you see why effective, professional leadership might make a small difference?

Luck and good fortune has a part to play in all things, but the management of opportunities tends to play a much bigger role over any time interval.

I read/heard of a study that someone had done on lottery winners. One of the conclusions was that in most cases, regardless of the amount won, it was gone in 5 years and the winners were back to square one again.
Obviously this did not apply to all, but just significant numbers.
That is poor management of an opportunity, which is what much of the world suffers from.
