Newcrest lifts gold and copper production in June quarter
Newcrest says it increased its gold and copper production in the three months to the end of June.
The miner says gold output grew by 25 per cent higher than in the previous quarter, to 642,032 ounces.
In the June quarter last year, gold production was 587,310 ounces.
Copper production increased by 20 per cent from the previous to 22,818 tonnes.
Output for the June quarter in 2012 was 20,544 tonnes.
In a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange, the company says it expects to produce up to 2.3 million ounces of gold this financial year.
But it has warned it is anticipating lower gold production in the first three months of this financial year.
It also says that substantial falls in the price of gold and copper are likely to impact on its profit for last financial year.
Newcrest's total gold and copper production for 2013 was within a target announced earlier this year.
