In Japan the population is in decline and ageing quickly. 1 million per year approx. They accept no refugees, have no immigration program and a low birth rate. Give a choice they decided a declining population is preferable to an increasing immigration because that way they preserve their culture, don't have problems with refugees, lower crime rate, maintain existing living standards and a civilised society. They don't allow dual citizenship...you are a citizen of Japan or some other country, not both. At age 20 you decide if you are Japanese or.......if a born and living overseas. We may not agree with them but they have shown over last 20 years that it works for them, We don't need a large migration in Australia with all the issues and problems. being imported. This is a very different world we live in compared to the post WW2 period of displaced persons who came here to make a better life mostly. from Europe.
