I agree with this - anyone who comes here should do so on a genuine basis for sure, and I agree that corporate slavery is a big issue even in Australia. Go to places like Eastwood and you'll hear about staff being paid under the median wage who are on expired statuses.
It's illegal on the individual's part and exploitation on the business owner's part. Before I left Australia I came to know a Chinese national who was here on an expired visa for over 10 years but because they were so good at their job, their employer 'hid' them from the authorities. The Chinese national didn't want to go back because of the risk of what the CCP would do to him, and the employer didn't want to let him go because he was very good at his job.
