    Towed back alongside. Often with one on each side. I have photos somewhere showing it. At Byron Bay they were towed to the jetty, loaded on a flat bed rail wagon and taken to the factory. At Barrier Island the whale could be taken right up to the factory. You can see from the photo that the whale was winched up a ramp that went into water deep enough for the chaser to nose up and pass a line that was used to hook up the whale tail strap to the shore winch cable.

    The chaser was an ex wartime Fairmile. The Fairmile was a subchaser during the war, about 110 feet long.
