Actually it's not far of the mark. The Productivity Commission modelled high immigration in 2006 and said any benefits would only go to the big owners of capital and the immigrants themselves and the rest of us will be worse off. It's hard to argue this hasn't been the case after the subsequent 15 years of hyper immigration with a slump in per capita GDP growth, stagnant wages, unaffordable housing, overloaded infrastructure and services (and the cost to pay for more of it), more congestion and loss of amenity and an increasingly degraded natural environment.
