Can you elaborate on historical examples rather than just referring to a couple of books? The fact is that the post Federation level of immigration was an average of around 70,000 pa and we have been running close to triple that for the past 15 years or so. Also post war we had an economic boom and protected industries which could absorb a lot of workers.
