I would have to disagree with you here
In trials, rates of hospitalisations are considered as "events per person year". This is to standardise between groups (e.g. if control and treatment groups have diff number of participants) or if participants are lost from the study (due to withdrawing consent, quitting the study or dying).
As such I believe the trial has demonstrates no difference in hospitalisation rates per person year between the two groups, indicating that this has occurred even after taking into account the prolonged survival in treatment group
