have a read of this submission by cash converters to the government.
for those who do not want to read the whole bit, read page 28 and 29.
My opinion is that government intervention into businesses ( a nanny state approach )is not the solution to address social issues, create interventions for the society so that people have a less need to rely on these products if they feel that the loans are problematic.
45% of individuals who take these short term loans are on gov benefits.
Anyways , there is a need and CCV addresses it, that is the definition of a business, providing a service.
On the other hand governments which are also businesses in the sense that they should be providing a service to people end up doing a shoddy job
