As I write this, the AUD price of gold is knocking on the door of $1,700.
This trial mining is coming at the perfect time for MAT and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a cash surplus closer to AUD7m than the AUD5.2m forecast.
I also believe the higher gold price will make the decision to go into large scale operation much quicker and easier.
The market will soon wake up to the fact that MAT is the standout place to invest for those wanting exposure to gold - low risk location, low risk imminent production, respectable AISC, good management and enormous exploration upside.
