Just confirming as per jojo's information, that the following is correct:

I just did mine online and its very straight forward if you have your old AST statement from 2012

on that statement you will find on the front page on the right hand side your company number : 17942
and your shareholder account number starting with : 900000....

Its pretty simple and straightforward if you have these two numbers.

So in summary, you Account reference is the number that forms part of the barcode at the bottom of the letter received - i.e. 90000____ (90000 + 4 digits).  If you need it, the company number is 17942, but that should not be required as part of the Reference number
