    I suppose that part of the problem in rural areas is our lack of de-centralization

    The USA was developed specifically with large cities scattered across the country whereas Australia was the opposite and it appears along with our inability to own the ground and the minerals under it Australia was not encouraged to decentralize and then they discontinued rail lines so poorer transport and less facilities inland

    If there are no big cities inland then the large corporations can control the land.

    Do I sound like a conspiracy nut?

    But it still a fact that Canberra could do a lot more in the way of Nation building than building a few roads in the cities as a cure to Australia's increasing lack of foresight and future
