I can only speak from my own experience (which isn’t huge). I like trading Stocks intraday which has enough liquidity and volume but also a share price which isn’t to high eg .40 only has to move .04 to make it a 10% gain. IMU has an ATR value of about .025 roughly and that’s a good return if your on the right side of it. The position size amount varies on trader to trader but mostly on your total capital size eg 100k and imagine of your rule was 10% then your rule would be 10k trade parcels. Maybe your more risky, and trade 25%. A good position sizing calculator would be my advice and that way when you lose (and you will) you only lose small with in the parameters of your pre determined allowable risk amount. You want to lose small win big. Mind big profits are in swing or position trades but wages to keep afloat from intraday trades help keep you earning and from sitting around watching a stock that’s doing bugger all for the day. As we are on an IMU thread, have a look at the daily fluctuations on a 1Hr chart and have a look at where the fast time frame trades can take a slice of some price action. The term ‘day trade’ just means that you open and close your position before market close. It for those who don’t want to hold stocks in particular overnight!
