Hey @turbo, I've spent a bit of effort trying to force prices into chart patterns only to realise I was pushing a round peg into a square hole. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea and most of all the simplicity of a chart pattern but I don't see price action respect them a great deal. and therefore I lose faith in the chart patterns (after all they are quite subjective, like looking into the clouds, I see an elephant and you might see a ham sandwich) I keep falling back to TA fundamentals like market structure, price action, volume flow, areas of volume, key inflexion levels, previous highs etc.

Chart patterns like a pennant are used in relation to the trend.
