Andy the principle behind it is to use the ema's to identify entry and exits. Below is an example of buy the blue's sell the yellow. Now it ain't that easy as hindsight is a wonderful thing but that's the principle. (I never get the bottom and certainly never get the top).
I also incorporate volume into my decisions to enter.

Jump on some charts (better on stocks your not familiar with) and study the way these EMA's move. A 5-10 minute chart will be good to study.

Be prepared to spend hours, days, weeks drooling over charts.
