Can only do what you feel comfortable with now (and learn from the experience). Some might sell heads to buy options for maximum upside leverage (and downside risk). Others might sell options and buy (fewer) heads to start CGT clock earlier in case there's an unexpected event in the upcoming 12 month window.
Also there are different rules for investors (most people here I think) than for professional traders such as friend Slick.
