That's not really correct. The origin of the GC actually came from just 50 /200 MA's (moving averages). It's up to the user as to what style of "averages" they wish to use. WMA's , SMA's , MA's or the most popular EMA's.
But I do agree with Wedgeman, the EMA's offer the most detail and decisive movements for the PA.
