The law of averages doesn’t always work. In this example you would be better off buying all your shares at the beginning of the period. This will work for any period greater than 3 years for IMU.
$1000 worth of shares every 3 months (At monthly closing price) for the last 3 years gives:
11c = 9090
4.6c = 21729
9.1c = 10989
13c = 7692
14.5c = 6896
18c = 5555
18c = 5555
25c = 4000
40c = 2500
48c = 2083
35.5c = 2816
12c = 8333
Total for $12000 = 87238 shares = 13.8c average
