An analogy perhaps to remember to keep an eye not only on the exponential movement of the dog (the micro stock environment) but also rather the direction of the its polynomial handler and walker (the macro stock environment) for on many occasions the often erratic dog needs first to wear itself out chasing birds and butterflies (environment volatility) before it is okay to even consider taking it for a walk (making an investment).
