Forest, Trees and Shrubbery! How does this relate to IMU ? Some large. Some small. Some seemingly insignificant. IMU may have been impacted by multiple seemingly unconnected events this past week. One of these was the MSCI rebalance. But the MSCI rebalance did not include and hence did not affect IMU. But did it ? There are many index tracking traders. Some public. Some private. What they have in common is that they all feed off the volatility created by the other. ETFs. CFDs. Stocks. Options. Shorts. Puts. Calls. Local and Global. Thursday not so much but yesterday (Friday) 21 of 165 XHJ Health Care Companies experienced (for me) abnormally elevated turnover. They also experienced SP increases of between 4.00% and 7.50%. This increase in SP was well within the range of positive abnormal influence expected for stocks caught in the wake of an index rebalance. What impact or any has the carry over tide of the MSCI rebalance had on IMUs SP ? Some weekend pondering for sure. Caution still required.
