It's gone now.
I remember there being one at $39.50 and another at $42 or similar, simultaneously on 2 or 3 days. I have also seen them gone a couple of times, only to re-appear later.

It's either a 'newbie' entering the price in cents and not paying attention to the totals which may be calculated on the screen, and his platform allows it being outside a sensible range, OR someone 'having fun' on the sell side. The 1,600 units (or similar), that were there, would not make any difference to volume totals.

I once questioned my inability to bid/offer outside a range and was told that brokers were not supposed to place bids/offers which were greater than 12% away from the last sell price. The guy then said that some brokers dis-regard the 'rules', which are not enforced.

My observations appear to confirm that the ASX does purge prices overnight, that are outside a range. What that range is, I don't know.
