In May 2012, Desma Mitchell's mother, Beverley, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. She was healthy, alert, and enjoying the first years of re
tirement. In 2015, Beverley was also diagnosed with Lewy Body dementia and Vascular dementia.Twelve months later, Desma had to assume the role of primary carer for her mother. She has shared her experience in her book "Living at Home with Dementia and Parkinson's Disease - A Practical Guide for Carers".Many Australians are in a similar situation, as the preference of the elderly to stay in their home, and the increasing size of the ageing population, particularly those with dementia, means there is a growing need for home care support. It can be a difficult time as those with dementia are often unable to communicate their pain. PainChek helps to support family carers by assessing, quantifying and monitoring pain of their loved one. Thanks Desma for sharing your comprehensive and practical guide to help other family carers in a similar situation. https://dementiacareathome.com.au/#about
