Phil, this was a 'Pilot Evaporation Trial' and as well as achieving 87.5% K recovery, it was also successful as a pilot/trial in identifying that the trigger point for transfer of the brine to the Potash crystallizer should be later than observed under laboratory conditions. Following on from this finding - the stage III result was excellent (8.8%) - isn't this what pilots and trials are all about, especially highly technical ones like this.
The company is now forecasting a conservative 6.5% grading overall which is about 28% more than your calculation above.
