I too would like to here what @SandyC thinks since he seems to have a geologist's background.

In the meantime this presentation from Talon Metals (TSX:TLO) shows what is quite possible. SGQ has referenced TLO in at least one announcement and have swapped exploration ideas with them.... they are hunting very similar deposits and face many of the same problems.

It's worth noting that TLO's first discovery hole was in 2008 so that's 14 years of an 'over night success' story... puts Ni exploration in perspective.

Also, the ground they explore was a farm-in of a RIO tenement in which RIO do not have any 'back in' rights... so the idea that the majors can't make big mistakes can be put to one side. It seems RIO had a similar mindset to BHP a few years ago. TLO currently owns a 51% interest in the deposit and its MC is US$425M (i.e. ~20x SGQ)
